About This Blog

Something interesting has happened to our society.  I’m afraid I’m not old enough to know how or when it started - maybe things have always been this way.  But, I don’t think so.  At some point, the American sense of entitlement became absolutely astounding.  There’s this horrible mentality going around that “the land of the free” means “I can do anything I want, even if it interferes with your right to do whatever you want, and no one can stop me, and, oh, if you try, I’ll sue you.”  (The American entitlement mentality extends to the belief that run-on sentences are completely fine.  & tht noone ken meke mi lurn 2 spll if aye do’nut wunt too.)

I don’t know where it started, but it’s time to end.  What if people put the entitlement mentality, and went with a much more manageable “If you want people to be nice to you, you should be nice to them first” mentality?  Call it the Golden Rule if you’re religious, call it something else if you’re not.  Be nice to servers at restaurants and customer service representatives.  Think about how obnoxious it would be to have to do everything yourself.  Be glad that you’re lucky enough to have a job that doesn’t require you to wait on people who are as much of an asshole as you are.  Most importantly, make a decision that, no matter what other people do, you are not going to be an asshole.
